Donkey Derby The donkey derby usually takes place on 'the
plains', a piece of open grassland above the church but this year it was found that the ground was too wet and boggy for the donkeys so the location was changed to the village green. They used the far end of the Green, on the pond side. The day was fine until about 3pm then there was a shower of rain. It was held on Sun. 15th June. We had Toby for the day and went to Thetford to see where Dad's Army was filmed but we arrived back in time for the end of the daonkey derby. Toby won a coconut on the coconut shy with help from Alex Gill. I bought some melons, some damsons and a jigsaw puzzle of London. I think they raised a good amount of money as it was held in such a central position. They cleared up really well so you would hardly know it had been held there except for the trampled grass.
